Daedalic Entertainment has announced that it has ceased development of its latest game, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum project, which was highly controversial and often negatively criticized.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was released by Daedalic Entertainment with high hopes. However, it was characterized as a game full of technical errors, with an uninteresting story and no creative design. This resulted in the game receiving negative feedback from both critics and players.

The studio said of the game’s technical and design flaws, “We acknowledge and deeply regret that the game did not meet the expectations we set for ourselves or our community. Please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment this may have caused.” The Hamburg-based company announced that it had to lay off some of its employees in addition to halting its game development activities.

It is not surprising that the company terminated its game development activities after these bad criticisms. It is not yet clear whether the game will continue to be supported.
